Warm and accommodating children’s dental check-ups for our youngest patients. Introducing your children to the dentist can cause anxiety, but we ensure every experience is pleasant, comfortable and positive while we assess their oral health and development.
The earlier you can help your children become accustomed to the dentist, the more confident they will be when visiting throughout their lifetime. Positive early childhood dental care teaches children to develop good oral health habits, like brushing and flossing daily. With regular childhood examinations, we can help kids prevent future dental problems and treat any that come up before they cause symptoms.
Employing the latest technological trends in the dental industry, we use digital x-rays, dental scanners, and many other systems and devices to offer the best solutions for all the kids under our dental care.
Our clinic is designed to provide a warm and accommodating space for all children and youngsters. We understand that visiting the dentist may be intimidating or a previous experience may have left them feeling anxious, which is why we are committed to delivering a relaxing and pleasant experience each and every time. We take extra care to ensure all our little patients have a positive experience in our clinic.
Kids’ appointments include routine check-ups, oral health care, tooth polishing and assessment of healthy tooth and jaw growth. In our clinic, we also repair small cavities, treat gum problems and swellings, apply preventative fissure sealants to protect teeth from decay, and remove difficult baby teeth that don’t want to fall out naturally — especially before they have a detrimental effect on the new emerging tooth. We put the greatest emphasis on teaching the importance of good oral health and helping kids learn how to look after their teeth by themselves.

It’s recommended that your child visits the dentist by their first birthday or within 6 months of their first tooth appearing. Early dental visits help monitor your child’s oral health, establish good habits, and address any concerns early on preventing the development of what may be future dental or medical problems.
To prepare your child, keep the explanation simple and positive. Read children’s books about visiting the dentist, and play pretend to familiarise them with the process. Speak positively about the dentist and how appointments are important for maintaining health and wellbeing throughout life. At CDIC, we believe bringing your child along when you have an appointment is a great introduction and ‘role-playing’ exercise for young patients.
To ensure dental care is accessible for all children, the Australian Government offers the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), which is a financial scheme that helps to cover the cost of children’s dental care. To be eligible for the scheme, your child must be between 0 and 17 for at least one day in that calendar year and eligible for Medicare. Either the child or parent must also be receiving a payment from Services Australia at least once a year. The scheme covers checkups, cleanings, fillings and other general services. It does not cover cosmetic procedures or orthodontics. At CDIC, we ask that the payment for services be made, and the CDBS claim handled directly between the patient and Medicare. We provide a fully itemised account for your claim.
