Recently, an article was posted on the Sydney Morning Herald site, talking about the topic of infection control at the dental office.
There is nowhere more important for stringent infection control protocols that at your dentist. Dental procedures routinely involve the potential exposure to saliva or blood borne infections. It’s something we should all pay great attention to.
Here at the Cosmetic Dental and Implant Centre, Dr New is incredibly strict with his infection control procedures. Sterilisation of all instruments, cleanliness of equipment, disposable plastic surface barriers, constant antibacterial wipes are all routine at the CDIC. In February 2014, Dr New voluntarily bought in Dr Vincent Amerina, the former chief investigator of the Victorian Dental Practitioners Board to conduct an independent audit of infection control procedures at the Cosmetic Dental and Implant Centre (this was not the first time). We passed with flying colours, “101%” according to Dr Amerina, but importantly, Dr New is one of very few dentists who take this proactive approach.
If you have concerns about infection, sterilisation or want to know what we do here at the Cosmetic Dental and Implant Centre to keep you safe and healthy, contact us. Time-permitting, we’ll even give you a tour of the sterilisation room and explain how the equipment works.
